It's been awhile, but update 10/14/10

Well we've had some off days, should be back on schedule for today. Tomorrow, Monday and Tuesday, we will be absent from school due to the various activities (Stem meeting tomorrow, Career Shadowing Monday, Integrated Project Presentation on Tuesday).

We got our rock setup for today, it's looking real nice (credit to Alana)!

Our second class trip to Aquarium Adventures

Today started off a little slow, we prepared to go to Aquarium Adventures however the vans that were assigned to pick us up took a little more time then expected, however regardless we made it to Aquarium Adventures and managed to pick up what we needed despite the delay.

We purchased from Aquarium Adventures four more pots of Dwarf Hairgrass and (SOMETHING), one of the fish is actually pregnant so we'll have some nice babies swimming in our tank in a few weeks! The extra hair-grass will help to cover our fish tank to appeal to our "Savannah" or "Plains" idea. We also got some nice ideas from some of the employees, one idea that we really liked was to place in more rocks to build a sort of "mountain" to get an interesting feel.

Yeast in the Tank!

Today we walked to our tank to discover a strange white substance forming a thick layer at the top of our fish tank. Upon further investigation, we realized that this layer of material is actually least leaked from our Co2 Injection system which seemed to have malfunctioned and started releasing the yeast into our tank.

We're currently working towards clearing out the yeast from our tank and we're hoping that it doesn't  cause any heavy long term effects on our ecosystem.
